Affordable housing is a major priority in Arlington. In addition to attending the regularly scheduled monthly Commission meetings, members are appointed to one or more subcommittees and/or special projects. To ensure affordable housing is included in the housing development process, members are also assigned as the primary or secondary Housing Commission representative to track a site plan and update the Commission on its progress and completion. The Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) serves as a permanent, renewable, source of revenue to meet, in part, the housing needs of the residents of Miami-Dade County.

The AHTFB is made up of thirteen Trustees who have knowledge of and demonstrable service to the affordable housing community.

The Miami-Dade County Affordable Housing Advisory Board works to identify and eliminate barriers to the creation of affordable housing, and advocate for policies to encourage the development of additional affordable housing in the County.
